Electroplating
Electroplating is a process that uses an electric current to reduce dissolved metal cations so that they form a thin coherent metal coating on an electrode.
Electroplating is primarily used to change the surface properties of an object (such as abrasion and wear resistance, Corrosion protection, lubricity, aesthetic qualities), but may also be used to build up thickness on undersized parts or to form objects by electroforming.

Corrosion Resistant Coatings
Corrosion resistant coatings protect metal components against corrosive degradation due to humidity, salty environment, oxidation, or exposure to a variety of environments. Corrosion resistant coatings provides protection to metal surfaces and acts as a barrier to inhibit the contact between corrosive material and base metal. Plating on Plastics
Reflectivity and aesthetics are main benefit of plating on plastic substrate.
